FAQ
Below are answers to some frequently asked questions about bookings, trials, and wedding day makeup.
How far in advance can I book?
I open my diary 18 months in advance. I do encourage you to book sooner rather than later for two reasons:
1) the sooner you get into contact, the more likely I am to be available;
2) I adjust my prices year-on-year in line with inflation so if you book now you will be charged this year’s prices rather than next year’s prices (or the year after’s!) so you’re essentially getting an early-bird discount!
How many bridal party members can you do?
I can do up to 5 bridal party members comfortably on my own. Any more and I would need to bring an assistant.
Do you do hair as well?
Sadly, I don’t at this time, but I can recommend some excellent hair stylists.
Can you work with all ethnicities?
Of course! I pride myself on being an inclusive makeup artist. I have experience in working on all ethnicities and races. As a woman of colour myself, I completely understand that different races have different undertones, overtones, skintones and facial features and I adapt the products I use and techniques I use accordingly.
Can you work with all genders, sexualities, identities and disabilities?
Of course. I provide a safe, welcoming and inclusive experience for all clients. My approach is always tailored to you, ensuring you feel comfortable, confident and fully yourself.
What is your booking process?
Please get in touch with me to make sure I’m available on your wedding date.
If I am available, and you wish to book me, I will require a £100 deposit to be paid and a signed contract to secure your date.
Once the deposit has been paid, I will send you:
1. The link to book your trial/bridal preview.
2. A pre-trial discovery questionnaire which finds out in great detail more about your wedding and questions to prompt you to help you find your dream bridal makeup look.
All my packages include a free trial/bridal preview for the bride where, as well as the details you provide in your questionnaire, I will consult you throughout to make sure you’re happy with the makeup look.
Following the trial, I will send a schedule for the day which will include the order of bridesmaid makeup application. You can request one free amendment to this schedule. However, if you wish to make any further amendments, a £15 admin fee will be applicable.
The balance of payment is then due 4 weeks before the wedding.
What should I wear to my trial? Is there anything I should bring?
I recommend wearing a top that is similar in colour and neckline to your wedding dress/outfit you’re planning to wear on your wedding day.
I would also suggest bringing any accessories you’re planning to wear on the day, so we can put everything together and see how all the different elements will come together.
Additionally, I suggest you wear your hair to the trial the way you’re planning to have your hair on your wedding day.
Can I bring people to my trial?
I’m perfectly happy for a supportive friend/family member to come along to the trial but I would limit this to one person, as too many opinions can be confusing.
I would also advise against this one person being your fiancé (so it can be a nice surprise on the day!). If you are bringing a person, bear in mind that the trial will be for the bride only!
Can you use my own makeup?
Please do not bring your own makeup unless I specifically request this. I may ask you to do this if you have very specific allergies that my kit doesn’t currently cater for (please let me know beforehand what allergies you have so I can check if my kit can cater for this).
I know sometimes we can be very attached to certain makeup items (e.g. if you’ve spent years finding the right lashes for your eye shape or lipstick shade, then you may want to wear these on your wedding day and you can certainly bring them to your trial), however, I would draw the line with cream/liquid products that are going on your face because I can be sure that the products in my kit are clean, sanitary and unexpired.
It is often the case that clients bring products that have expired or aren’t as high-performing as products I have in my kit.
Additionally, please do not bring your own foundation because if you have multiple different shades across your face, I will use multiple foundation shades rather than just using the one.
I’ve also had brides bring me foundation that is expired, has been contaminated by bacteria and/or no longer matches their skintone (e.g. because they now have a tan).
Sometimes, some brides don’t have a perfect foundation match in any foundation and for these clients I will mix foundations and blue/green colour correctors to achieve their perfect skintone match.
Can I have a trial before booking?
Of course! I understand that a lot of brides can be anxious about having someone work on their face, especially when it’s the most important day of their life. If you are anxious about having your makeup done, I would advise you to get your trial booked in sooner rather than later.
A trial before booking is at the rate of £75, which is deducted from the overall cost of the package if you decide to book me after the trial. The only caveat I would say about booking your trial before booking is that your wedding date is not secure until you’ve paid your deposit.
Also, where a trial has taken place before booking, a 50% deposit is required to secure your date following the trial.
Should I book services for my bridesmaids?
Bridesmaid makeup is thoughtfully designed to create a cohesive, polished look across your bridal party, enhancing each bridesmaid’s features while ensuring a harmonious overall finish.
This approach keeps your morning running smoothly and ensures your bridal party looks beautifully consistent in person and in photographs.
For those who prefer a more personalised style, doing their own makeup may be the better option.
Do bridesmaids get sent a questionnaire and do they get a trial?
Where do bridal trials take place?
Your bridal trial will take place in my home studio in Stourbridge. The full address will be provided upon paying the deposit.
Please be aware that I live with a dog, so if you have any issues with dogs, please let me know as soon as possible before the trial.
What sort of makeup do you specialise in?
What brands do you stock in your kit?
I consider myself a mid-budget range makeup artist and therefore I carry a mix of luxury and drugstore brands.
Some of the brands you can find in my kit include: Charlotte Tilbury, P Louise, Elf, Huda Beauty, Jordana Ticia, and Rare Beauty.
